Re: Summer vacation
Date: March 17
I know that your summer vacations in July and August are still quite far away, but I would like all staff to submit requests for vacations days to their division heads by the end of the month.
As you are all aware, Gelford Clothing is particularly busy during the summer months. For this reason, Gelford usually has to hire between 20 and 30 seasonal staff to assist with the extra workload. While the popularity of our summer designs is great for sales, it always causes difficulty in coordinating vacation time and work schedules. Of course, I hope to honor all vacation requests, and I will work with department heads closely to achieve this goal. However, in the event that the seasonal staff are not able to cover the entire projected workload, we may have to ask the most recently hired employees to postpone their vacations until a time that is more convenient.
We ask for everyone’s understanding and cooperation in this matter. Thank you very much.

Subject: Jacksonville Mystery
Hi Brian,
This is just a short note to let you know that all the arrangement are complete for Saturday evening, August 27. This morning, I picked up the tickets for the performance of “Jacksonville Mystery” that begins at 7:30. Also, Nereus Gordon will be arriving at the Dondonald Train Station at 6:00, just a few blocks south of the Beckingham Theater. I told him we would meet him at the station and then go someplace nearby for dinner before the play. Righetti’s is just across the street from the theater, and it is one of the most popular places in the city. Plus, Righetti’s always has specials on Saturday night.
Lillian Gmez really wanted to join us because she is a big fan of Alan Maddox, the actor who is playing the lead role. However, she has to attend her sister’s wedding in Los Angeles that afternoon. She will drive back here to San Juan on Saturday ngiht, but she is not sure whether she can make it to the play. She promised to phone me by 6:00 so that I can cancel her ticket if she can’t come on time.
If I do not here form you by tomorrow, I will assume that everything is fine for Saturday night. By the way, I just changed my cell phone provider and number yesterday. My new number is 309-9211. If you have any problems, please give me a call.
Regards,
Melinda Lowe
