Re: Rising electricity costs

Dear Staff:

During the past few months, Mr. Bob Markham, the head administrator, has become more andmore concerned about the continual increase in the amount of electricity being used in this building. According to Mr. Marham’s records, last month’s electrical bill was the highest he has ever seen during his 12 years as administratior of this company.

Two months ago, the maintenance and administration staff met to discuss this issue. It was decided that a booklet would be drawn up listing several steps that can be taken by everyone to address this problem. A draft was completed this past month by Mr. Markham’s division and the final copy will be ready by the end of this month. I would, however, brieftly like to mention a few simple recommendations that  you can implement immediately.

To help lower the overall consumption of electricity, please shut down electrical devices, such as photocopiers, that are not in use. The same applies to lights. While walking throughout this building, my staff has noticed that he light on left on in the washrooms. Also, please refrain from using an elevator to move between only two or three floors.

By following these and other steps that you will received shortly, the electrical bills will be dramatically reduced. In fact, Mr. Markham and his division are determined to cut the total monthly charge in half. That may seem like an unreasonable goal, but it is not impossible.

Dear Ms. Dupont:

Thank you so much for registering for the Amery Conference for Advertising Professionals that will be held right here at the Rexton Convention Center from April 22 to 24. Your credit card payment has been processed and a receipt will be sent to your office within the next few days.

As you requested in the online registration form that you completed, places have been reserved for you and three other staff members in your division. When you arrive at the center, simply go to the registration table located outside the main auditorium on the second floor to pick up conference kits for everyone in your group. The  kit includes a complete schedule as well as transcripts of all presentations. Incidentally, all the sessions for that particular conference will be held on the same floor, so it will be easy to find your rooms.

Concerning the other matter you mentioned regarding accommodations, I’m afraid that we do not haddle that. However, I strongly recommend contacting Claudia Lepin, manager of the Blue Lake Hotel located just one block east of here. The Blue Lake offers a 10% discount on its rates for any groups of three or more from the same company that are participating in a conference at the Rexton Convention Center. The phone number is 824-3567. Simply give my name to Ms. Lepin when you call.
