    Last Saturday, March 25, two students at Manchester Middle School attended the state spelling bee. These students were seventh-grader Michael Angel and eighth-grader Susan Granson. After winning the Manchester Middle School competition, they both participated in the state spelling bee, which was held in Tallahassee. Principal Dailey was able to go.

    Although the students did not win, they did an excellent job. Michael was 14th and Susan was 18th, which is very good considering that there were fifty students in the spelling bee. "It was amazing how good the winners were at spelling," said Michael. "Maybe if I study, I can be that good next year." Michael has another chance since he is only a seventh-grader.

    The state spelling bee was won by Tracy Lockwood, who goes to Heiman Middle School in West Palm Beach. She will now go to the national spelling bee in Columbus, Ohio. If she wins that, then she'll get to meet the president and go on a two-week trip to Hawaii.
