Alaska is the biggest state in the United States of America and was the 49th state to be added to the country. Alaska is found in the north-western region of North America and, due to its location and the waters around it, has a very cold climate.
The lowest temperature recorded in Alaska was -62 degrees Celsius. Most areas of Alaska have large amounts of rain and snow throughout the year. However, there's an area in western Alaska that only receives ten inches of rain a year. According to science, this small amount of rain makes this area a desert, even though it is very cold.
As well as being cold, Alaska is also known for being a wild and untamed place. There are Many different types of wild animals that live in Alaska. Everything from foxes, bears, and caribou to seals, weasels, and whales can be found in this state.
Many of the animals in Alaska can be dangerous if people are not careful around them. Black bears, especially, are a risk to humans because they are often found in areas where humans live. These bears come close to such locations because they want food and because they are curious creatures.
